About elections in Thailand
I'm Bartłomiej Paruzel, and I built ElectioMap to map national elections around the world. This is the Thailand hub on ElectioMap — it brings together the Thailand election I cover, with the official result, vote and turnout shares to two decimal places, and, where the electoral authority publishes an official regional breakdown, an interactive map you can explore region by region.
Thailand is a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy operating under a constitution that has been suspended, replaced, or significantly amended through multiple military coups. The most recent coup was in May 2014, led by General Prayuth Chan-ocha. Elections returned in March 2019 under a constitution designed to limit political competition, with 250 appointed senators participating in prime ministerial selection. The May 2023 elections saw the progressive Move Forward Party (MFP) win the most seats but be blocked from forming a government by the Senate mechanism; MFP was then dissolved by the Constitutional Court in August 2024. Its successor, People's Party (Phak Prachachon), contested the February 2026 elections as the largest single party but again was excluded from government by a coalition of pro-establishment parties. Thailand's 500-seat House of Representatives uses a mixed-member proportional system: 400 FPTP constituency seats and 100 national party list seats. Key political forces include People's Party (progressive, urban), Pheu Thai (linked to exiled former PM Thaksin Shinawatra), Bhumjaithai (pro-establishment, rural), and Palang Pracharath (military-aligned). Thailand is Southeast Asia's second-largest economy, with strong manufacturing (automotive, electronics), tourism, and agriculture sectors. The Election Commission of Thailand (ect.go.th) administers elections, though its independence has been questioned.

Every figure on ElectioMap is taken from the official electoral authority for Thailand — the national election commission or equivalent body that certifies the count. I enter vote and turnout percentages exactly as published, to two decimal places and without rounding, and show seat totals wherever a chamber is being filled.
