Official PKW results — status: final
Wybory parlamentarne 25 października 2015 r. przyniosły przełom historyczny: PiS jako pierwsza partia w historii III RP zdobyła samodzielną większość bezwzględną w Sejmie (235 z 460 mandatów). Kampania wyborczą zdominowały obietnice socjalne — przede wszystkim program „Rodzina 500+” (500 zł miesięcznie na każde drugie i kolejne dziecko), obniżenie wieku emerytalnego oraz przywrócenie poprzednich progów podatkowych. Platforma Obywatelska straciła władzę po 8 latach, uzyskując zaledwie 24,09% — o ponad 15 punktów procentowych mniej niż w 2011 r.
Dramatyczny był los Zjednoczonej Lewicy — koalicja pięciu ugrupowań (SLD, TR, PPS, Zieloni, ZSL) zdobyła 7,55% głosów, lecz nie przekroczyła progu 8% obowiązującego koalicje wyborcze, tracąc reprezentację parlamentarną. Około 1,15 mln oddanych na nią głosów przepadło bezpowrotnie. Do Sejmu weszły dwie nowe siły: Kukiz'15 (42 mandaty) — ruch antyestablishmentowy Pawła Kukiza, oraz .Nowoczesna (28 mandatów) — liberalna partia Ryszarda Petru. W Senacie PiS zdobył 61 ze 100 mandatów, zapewniając sobie pełnię władzy ustawodawczej.
Frequently asked questions
Poland uses the d'Hondt method — a proportional distribution of 460 seats across 41 multi-member constituencies (7–20 seats each). Each party's votes are divided by 1, 2, 3… and seats go to parties with the highest resulting quotients. This method slightly favours larger parties over smaller ones.
PiS secured 235 seats despite winning only 37.58% of votes, due to two factors: (1) the d'Hondt method favours the largest party; (2) over 16% of votes "wasted" below the thresholds — United Left (7.55% as a coalition, subject to the higher 8% threshold) and Your Movement (3.16%) failed to enter parliament.
5% for single-party committees, 8% for multi-party coalitions. In 2015 this was a record year for "wasted votes": the left ran as a coalition subject to the higher 8% threshold, failing to enter parliament despite 7.55% — a lesson applied before the 2019 election.
The Sejm serves a 4-year term. The Senate — 100 senators in single-member constituencies — is elected simultaneously. PiS won 61 Senate seats in 2015, giving it full control over the legislative process throughout the 2015–2019 term.
Official results are announced by the State Electoral Commission (PKW) — an independent constitutional body. They become binding once published in the Journal of Laws. Electoral protests are reviewed by the Supreme Court within 30 days of filing.
