About elections in Kosovo
I'm Bartłomiej Paruzel, and I built ElectioMap to map national elections around the world. This is the Kosovo hub on ElectioMap — it brings together the Kosovo election I cover, with the official result, vote and turnout shares to two decimal places, and, where the electoral authority publishes an official regional breakdown, an interactive map you can explore region by region.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in February 2008, following the 1998-99 Kosovo War and a subsequent period of UN administration (UNMIK). It is recognised by over 100 countries including the United States and most EU members, but not by Russia, China, Serbia, or five EU member states. The 120-seat unicameral Assembly of Kosovo is elected by proportional representation from a single national constituency, with a 5% threshold. An additional 20 seats are reserved for minorities: 10 for Kosovo Serbs and 10 for other communities. The prime minister holds executive authority. Kosovo's political landscape is dominated by three main parties: Vetevendosje (Self-Determination, left-nationalist), the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK, centre-right), and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK, centrist). Albin Kurti's Vetevendosje won successive parliamentary elections in 2021 and 2026, governing with a majority in 2026 after winning 53 seats. Kosovo faces challenges including high unemployment, emigration, corruption, EU accession negotiations, and the unresolved status of the Kosovo Serb minority in the north — centred on Mitrovica — which maintains ties to Belgrade. Four of the five EU non-recognising states (Greece, Slovakia, Romania, Cyprus) complicate Kosovo's EU membership prospects. The Central Election Commission of Kosovo (kqz-ks.org) administers elections.

Every figure on ElectioMap is taken from the official electoral authority for Kosovo — the national election commission or equivalent body that certifies the count. I enter vote and turnout percentages exactly as published, to two decimal places and without rounding, and show seat totals wherever a chamber is being filled.
