About elections in Guinea
I'm Bartłomiej Paruzel, and I built ElectioMap to map national elections around the world. Guinea (also known as Guinea-Conakry to distinguish it from neighbouring Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea) is a republic in West Africa with approximately 14 million people. The country possesses vast mineral wealth including the world's largest bauxite reserves and significant iron ore, gold, and diamond deposits. Despite this resource endowment, Guinea remains one of the world's poorest countries due to corruption and poor governance. Guinea has experienced multiple military coups: in 1984 (Lansana Conte), 2008 (Moussa Camara), and most recently September 2021 (Mamadi Doumbouya). The 2010 elections under Lansana Conde were celebrated as Guinea's first free elections, but Conde's government became increasingly authoritarian before the 2021 coup. Under the military junta's transitional framework, a new constitution was adopted in 2024 and parliamentary elections were held in February 2026, returning a government-aligned majority. Doumbouya was nominated as president under the transitional framework. The 114-seat National Assembly is elected by proportional representation from 38 prefectures. Key political forces include the National Union for Prosperity (UNP, transitional government aligned), the RPG Arc-en-ciel (Conde's former party), and various opposition formations. The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI, ceni.gov.gn) administers elections. Guinea's transition to civilian governance remains a work in progress under international scrutiny.

I enter vote and turnout percentages exactly as published, to two decimal places and without rounding, and show seat totals wherever a chamber is being filled.
